Spend time with those who make you feel good! Find the time to surround yourself with those who lift your spirits and bring a smile to your face. </p><p>2. Practice or continue practicing meditation. Meditation can bring a sense of peace and calm to seniors. It can also be done in time spent with yourself, when lack of mobility is common in older adults. <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TLTwed97s8o" target="_blank">Watch this video</a> for more information on the benefits of meditation in older adults. </p><p>3. Keep your mind sharp with mental exercises! These can include puzzles, crosswords, Sudoku, and more! Find some free online crosswords<a href="https://www.dictionary.com/e/crossword/" target="_blank"> here</a>!</p><p>4. Interact with the younger generation! Find those who could benefit from wise advice and reminisce on memories with others. <a href="https://www.meetcortex.com/blog/the-history-of-storytelling-in-10-minutes" target="_blank">Story telling</a> has been around since the beginning of man kind and can serve as entertainment, education, cultural preservation, or instilling morals. </p><p><br /></p><p>Additional Resources:</p><p><a href="https://www.greatseniorliving.com/articles/fun-activities-for-seniors" target="_blank">Fun with Seniors: 100 ways to play </a></p><p><a href="https://dailycaring.com/9-enjoyable-activities-for-seniors-with-limited-mobility/" target="_blank">Enjoyable Activities for older adults</a></p><p><a href="https://www.umh.org/assisted-independent-living-blog/stimulating-activities-for-the-elderly" target="_blank">Simulating Activities for seniors</a></p>OACHChttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11933399205075104355noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6447895137893649711.post-38750247165459809722021-09-17T08:16:00.000-07:002021-09-17T08:16:57.630-07:002021 *Virtual* Fall Conference Preparation!<p style="text-align: left;"></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://www.ohiochc.org/mpage/FC21Landing" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" target="_blank"><img border="0" data-original-height="248" data-original-width="725" height="121" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhW_ng8h9JJQr5i5WRV9lUYvbRaO31OkVf4EEuHoD66O4FkBjNvH4z-EaC7dIa13U5uOcDMfaFnDP9r9IF_5UlLAAVC4TboceOyhELT_-dm0ZtyMHZe8lRzdiARcXBsYhea4XmhBPcgjI0D/w375-h121/fc21-logo-long-web.png" width="375" /></a></div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEivuiXCT5luvKyIWGfKCT-Xhdr2be7iXiq6BTTRgw_MPzGrmw-Wnu5xQfCRvDKXgcljwrNq6i6WGSSWapoLH-R_a7BCj0BaF8x4t62hqhxyP480jS1p2ZTjV_0WHLzaO5DzFn8lyanLfhTo/s2048/linkedin-sales-solutions-VtKoSy_XzNU-unsplash.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1366" data-original-width="2048" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEivuiXCT5luvKyIWGfKCT-Xhdr2be7iXiq6BTTRgw_MPzGrmw-Wnu5xQfCRvDKXgcljwrNq6i6WGSSWapoLH-R_a7BCj0BaF8x4t62hqhxyP480jS1p2ZTjV_0WHLzaO5DzFn8lyanLfhTo/s320/linkedin-sales-solutions-VtKoSy_XzNU-unsplash.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br /><p></p><br /><div style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: verdana;">OACHC has made the decision to switch to a virtual conference for our 2021 Fall Conference. Recovery is for everyone, every person, and every family. An individual can recover from many different addictions. September is a month that we celebrate recovery of all kinds. </p><p>Those suffering with addiction need support.<a href="https://health.gov/myhealthfinder/topics/everyday-healthy-living/mental-health-and-relationships/alcohol-use-conversation-starters" target="_blank"> This guide</a> from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services can be used to talk to a loved one who you believe has a drinking problem.</p><p>Check out our <a href="https://www.ohiochc.org/page/SUD?&hhsearchterms=%22recovery%22" target="_blank">Substance Use Disorder page</a> on Ohiochc.org for more information from OACHC on this subject. </p><p>At times, choosing the right provider can seem overwhelming. Substance Abuses and Mental Heath Services Administration has released <a href="https://www.samhsa.gov/recovery-month?utm_campaign=fyi_newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_source=govdelivery" target="_blank">this guide</a> to aid in this search. You can also find web banner and logos on this page to display on your own social media accounts to help spread the word this month. If you are unsure of stigmatizing words and imageries to avoid, visit <a href="https://rm.facesandvoicesofrecovery.org/?utm_campaign=fyi_newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_source=govdelivery" target="_blank">this page</a> for guidance. </p><p>One way to prevent addition is to openly talk with your children about the implications of addiction. You can use <a href="https://health.gov/myhealthfinder/topics/everyday-healthy-living/mental-health-and-relationships/talk-your-kids-about-tobacco-alcohol-and-drugs" target="_blank">this guide</a> to find great ways to go about discussing this with your family and to be sure you are prepared. </p>OACHChttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11933399205075104355noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6447895137893649711.post-63815059218028863562021-09-02T14:25:00.001-07:002021-09-03T06:34:34.180-07:00How to use OACHC site for Networking <p> </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEikdY_CU7OqTDSeyfa3W8JN0t_SZwmU-7uWxPFeGshqu9lsiSlOHOuSxR5rRKVZ6KVjB9-jMktwGdsZuF7DOPg92byiWKVn2F2D9JxX_ntjXFKj_4s4XBp36a6uSzBcEIfGihg0ulxsyzzz/s2048/christin-hume-Hcfwew744z4-unsplash.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1365" data-original-width="2048" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEikdY_CU7OqTDSeyfa3W8JN0t_SZwmU-7uWxPFeGshqu9lsiSlOHOuSxR5rRKVZ6KVjB9-jMktwGdsZuF7DOPg92byiWKVn2F2D9JxX_ntjXFKj_4s4XBp36a6uSzBcEIfGihg0ulxsyzzz/s320/christin-hume-Hcfwew744z4-unsplash.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><p><br /></p>This week's blog will go through some of the ways you can use your OACHC membership to network with other members!<p></p><p>After you sign in at the top right hand corner of the <a href="http://ohiochc.org">ohiochc.org</a> , you will be redirected to your profile page:</p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjQoOZCJsLpDqciwXeZyDMqhd-QjGtPSFKlDNxGOnu1tW1UZ_kKK0exY_JbAmxmzNSQZzX165KVw-SuH253H5IVoqVeKPWFTEaWHI2SXoVU_a7DXaIlRe89ejP5UFMZ_jodiScVXcfQMYTI/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" data-original-height="740" data-original-width="1814" height="264" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjQoOZCJsLpDqciwXeZyDMqhd-QjGtPSFKlDNxGOnu1tW1UZ_kKK0exY_JbAmxmzNSQZzX165KVw-SuH253H5IVoqVeKPWFTEaWHI2SXoVU_a7DXaIlRe89ejP5UFMZ_jodiScVXcfQMYTI/w647-h264/image.png" width="647" /></a></div><br />The best way to interact online is to first build your personal profile. As frontline healthcare providers serving some of the nation’s most vulnerable patient populations, the COVID-19 pandemic required FQHCs to do more than ever with limited financial resources. 340B savings became even more critical for Section 330 grantees and FQHC Look-Alikes, even as the 340B program itself faced growing scrutiny and pressure that has continued into 2021.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: verdana;">As we approach the back half of 2021, the 340B program continues to face more changes—from potential federal and state legislative actions, to the future unknown outcomes of several court cases and additional industry initiatives.</span></p><h4 style="text-align: left;"><span style="color: red; font-family: verdana;"><b>The more 340B changes, the more it stays the same</b></span></h4><p><span style="font-family: verdana;">Though the future of the 340B program is in flux, one constant is the Health Resources and Services Administration’s (HRSA) focus on 340B compliance, as it continues to audit nearly 200 covered entities each year. HRSA has adapted its audits to the pandemic environment—offering two remote options—but the stakes of these audits remain high. Findings can lead to repayment obligations or, in the most severe cases, loss of 340B eligibility.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: verdana;">Here’s a look at some of the most common HRSA findings, along with some best practices to help your entity avoid these errors:</span></p><p><span style="font-family: verdana;">1. Duplicate discounts—HRSA issued fewer findings of potential Medicaid fee-for-service duplicate discounts in 2020, however, inaccurate Medicaid Exclusion File findings were flat to slightly up. HRSA recently deployed new tools to the Office of Pharmacy Affairs (OPAIS) to allow more granular listing of Medicaid practices and billing numbers. 340B covered entities will want to ensure that they list all Medicaid information correctly across their various service settings.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: verdana;">2. Price diversion— HRSA audit findings regarding the use of 340B medications for patients that don’t meet the 340B patient definition have declined steeply over the past few years. This is encouraging and suggests improved compliance, but it may also reflect altered enforcement standards.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: verdana;">3. Incorrect OPAIS record—While also down year-over-year, this finding remained relatively common. 340B covered entities should regularly validate the accuracy of all information to the OPAIS, particularly if there have been recent changes in names, addresses, primary contacts, etc. </span><span style="font-family: verdana;">are trademarks or registered trademarks of Cardinal Health. All other marks are the property of their respective owners.</span></p><h4 style="text-align: left;"><span style="color: red; font-family: verdana;">What to expect from HRSA</span></h4><p><span style="font-family: verdana;">While the overall trend toward fewer findings is positive for 340B covered entities, we’ve seen signs of increasing focus from HRSA’s 340B auditors, including details of staff credentialing/relationships to covered entity, confirmation that the content of the 340B Policy and Procedure manual is being followed in practice, paper prescriptions filled at contract pharmacies and NDC matching between dispense and purchase in replenishment inventory models.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: verdana;">340B covered entities may be also advised to watch for changes with a new presidential administration. Early executive orders and statements from Biden administration appointees point to the strong possibility of another shift in 340B oversight standards; one that puts more weight behind enforcement of agency guidance and not just the statutory language.</span></p><h4 style="text-align: left;"><span style="color: red; font-family: verdana;">Safeguard your 340B program</span></h4><p><span style="font-family: verdana;">To succeed in this shifting landscape, 340B covered entities should remain focused on compliance, explore alternative operating models, and work closely with a range of partners to remain informed about what is happening with the program at all levels.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: verdana;">Unsure where to start? The gap between the vaccination rate of the general public </span></span></span><span style="font-weight: normal;"><span><span style="font-family: arial;">and that of Medicaid recipients as of May 24 was unacceptable: 45% of Ohioans overall vs. just 24% </span></span></span><span style="font-weight: normal;"><span><span style="font-family: arial;">of Medicaid members.</span></span></span></span></p><p style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-size: x-small;"><span style="font-weight: normal;"><span><o:p><span style="font-family: arial;"> </span></o:p></span><span style="font-family: arial;">Even though the vaccine is free to everyone, our Medicaid members face other barriers such as lack of transportation, inflexible work schedules and no ability to make appointments online. Having more Ohioans vaccinated is the key to returning to a pre-pandemic normal, so we’re working with partner providers and pharmacists to wipe out those barriers, one by one.</span></span></span></p><p style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-size: x-small;"><span style="font-family: arial;"><br /></span><span style="font-weight: normal;"><span style="font-family: arial;">Providers offering on-the-spot vaccinations to patients who are in their offices for other reasons is very effective, but we heard from you that many providers can’t meet the necessary patient volume and also use valuable office space to observe the patients for 15 minutes as CDC guidelines dictate. It also is a challenge to adjust providers’ workflows to administer the vaccines. Our solution: Through Aug. 15, we’ll pay providers $100 per vaccination instead of the standard $38.</span></span></span></p><p style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: arial;"><span style="font-size: x-small; font-weight: normal;"><span><o:p><span>T</span></o:p></span><span>hat should make it possible for providers to accommodate the extra work as well as the lower patient volume made necessary by the waiting period.</span></span></span></p><p style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-size: x-small;"><span style="font-weight: normal;"><span><span style="font-family: arial;">A working group consisting of representatives from Aetna, Buckeye Health Plan, CareSource, Molina Healthcare, Paramount Advantage and UnitedHealthcare meets regularly to iron out the details and logistics of this and other expanded vaccination efforts.</span></span></span><span style="font-family: arial;"><br /></span><span style="font-family: arial;"><br /></span><span style="font-weight: normal;"><span><span style="font-family: arial;">Of course, we couldn’t be successful without the work of our health care partners: the physicians who are altering their operations to offer those shots; the nurses who are staffing the many public vaccination events we’re planning; and the pharmacists who are making their stores another vaccination opportunity.</span></span></span></span></p><p style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-size: x-small;"><span style="font-weight: normal;"><span><span style="font-family: arial;">All of us in health care have important roles to play in spreading the vaccine and stopping the virus. providing doing hepatitis c screening to patients and have been referring those
in need of treatment to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. For this
pilot project they have worked to create and approve a new policy for screening
and linkage to care including revamping their clinical workflow and patient
education. Their new policy ensures that providers are ordering the HCV test
which includes an automatic reflex, and that providers are sharing patient education
documents through the After Visit Summary (AVS) function in Athena, their EMR.
Additionally the health center has been using Azara DRVS Patient Visit Planning
tool to identify patients who are in need of a hepatitis c test.</span><span face=""Calibri Light", sans-serif" style="color: #222222;"> </span></span></p>

patients to treatment at their Medical Surgical Health Center. For this pilot
the health center is working on a Medical Resident- led initiative to increase screening
and testing of patients. Residents are working on pulling in a patient
education document that will be included in the AVS in Epic, which is helping
with patient awareness and education. <o:p></o:p></span></p>

planning to use the provider specific scorecard in Azara DRVS to be able to
review which providers are offering hepatitis c testing, and to what extent. They
are also currently using the Patient Visit Planning Report to identify patients
without a lifetime screening for hepatitis c as well. <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span><o:p></o:p></span></p>

offered a clinical training, and an Azara DRVS training for this project. Both
health centers are working with the Azara team to map three additional
hepatitis C specific measures as part of this pilot as well. OACHC felt that
these measures would make reporting to ODH easier at the conclusion of the
project, and also help the health centers inform their clinical care decisions
for patients. </span><span face=""Calibri Light", sans-serif" style="color: #222222;">Both health centers have had their initial mapping meetings for the
following measures; HCV Diagnosis, HCV Linkage to Care, and HIV screening for
HCV patient and will be wrapping up their work this month.</span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span face=""Calibri Light", sans-serif" style="font-family: verdana;">To date, there is some data available in Azara DRVS for the Hepatitis
C Lifetime Screening measure in Azara DRVS. A preliminary look at this data
over the course of the pilot has shown that Five Rivers has been screening 46%
of patients eligible for a hepatitis c test (TY 2021 March), and trending
upwards since December 2020, and that CHN has been screening 44% of patients (TY
2021 March) and their percentage has been remaining steady since December 2020.
In comparison, the average performance for this measure of all 22 health
centers that have implemented Azara DRVS are performing at an average of 19%.
The two pilot health centers are currently two of the three top performers in
the state, behind only one health center who previously participated in this
same pilot in 2019. The health center’s respective screening progress is
expected to improve by the pilot end.</span></p>

If it's not one thing, it's another. Now, mental health disorders are coming more into focus and people are learning how to deal with the tolls that life can take on both your physical and mental health. <br /><br />It has been shown that not dealing with stress can lead to more serious health conditions down the road. According to NIH, "<span style="background-color: white; font-size: 16px;">Stress-related disorders result from abnormal responses to acute or prolonged anxiety, and can include obsessive-compulsive disorder and post-traumatic stress disorder."<br /><br />Dealing with stress and anxiety can be difficult too. Taking things one day at a time and finding a starting point to help cope is always a good way to begin your stress relief.</span></span><p></p><p><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></p><p><span style="font-family: verdana;"><b>Resources:<br /><a href="https://www.mayoclinic.org/healthy-lifestyle/stress-management/resources/hlv-20049495?p=1">Stress Management</a><br /><a href="https://www.healthline.com/health/stress/effects-on-body">The Effects of Stress on Your Body</a><br /><a href="https://www.assp.org/news-and-articles/2020/04/06/10-free-resources-to-help-you-better-manage-stress">10 Free Resources to Help You Better Manage Stress</a></b></span></p><p><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://www.nextgen.com/" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="675" data-original-width="1575" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh45tPzWBuGAWNN4Gyo54rCosToQId8FUdQOA9R14FoMxomnJdCnjFP6gtOfg4_iI0wMO0q3OtG2JJRcJ5mcgf0-S3Re8gSm5i8XdTbOe51KL9jZE4qh652YJNiZQwqjH5Tk8jOVaULnayP/s320/P_NG-LOGO.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div><br /></div><br /><p><br /></p>OACHChttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11933399205075104355noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6447895137893649711.post-81326532595011787402021-03-25T12:41:00.000-07:002021-03-25T12:41:43.281-07:00Paramount Advantage Launches New Electronic Claims System<p><span style="font-family: verdana;">Paramount is launching a new electronic claims system on
